Johnny Moscardini

Giovanni 'Johnny' Moscardini played 9 internationals for Italy, scoring 7 goals. He was born in Falkirk in Scotland.
Moscardini’s father moved from Barga in Tuscany in 1872, settling in Scotland and opening fish-and-chip shops and ice-cream parlours. Barga is noted to this day for its strong connections with Scotland.
During the 1914-18 war Moscardini returned to Italy and joined the army. After the war (during which he was wounded) Moscardini played one season with local outfit AS Barga before moving on to Unione Sportiva Lucchese (a post war reincarnation of the earlier FC Lucca). In 1919-20 Lucchese were promoted to the  Tuscany  region Prima Categoria  . In 1924 the club merged with S.S. Ginnastica Lucchese Sportiva Libertas and changed its name to Unione Sportiva Lucchese-Libertas
Moscardini  was called up for Italy's match against Switzerland in November 1921 . He fell out of favour with the return of Vittorio Pozzo as national coach (consequently missing the 1924 Olympic Games) but played one more international the following year after Pozzo's departure. By this time Moscardini had moved on to Pisa
