01.11.06- Parc des Princes, Paris. France's 5th international match and the first appearance of the England Amateur international side.
The English romped home by 15-0. Vivian Woodward deliberately missed a penalty at 10-0 as he thought the referee had been harsh in a handball decision.

France won 1-0 thanks to a Gaston Cyprès goal in the 60th minute. 

Alexandre Villaplane

France v Mexico,13.07.30 Villaplane behind the bouquet. 

Algeria born Villaplane was a robust left half who played for FC Sète, Nimes, Racing, Antibes and Nice.
He won 25 international caps and was the captain of France at the 1930 World Cup in Uruguay.
During the war he emerged from the criminal underworld as an officer of the Brigade Nord Africain, who operated under the direction of the Gestapo. He was actively involved in atrocities and was executed for his crimes in 1944.

Catalunya v France, 1912

The player referred to in the caption is Gabriel Bau (Futbol Club Espanya).

Association de la Jeunesse Auxerroise

 Association de la Jeunesse Auxerroise was founded in 1905 under the guidance of L'abbé Ernest Deschamps of  the Cathedral Saint-Étienne d'Auxerre. the club joined Fédération gymnastique et sportive des patronages de France (FGSPF) in 1906. They won the FGSPF champuonship of  Burgundy each season from 1906-1914.

The outside left won 1 cap against Belgium in 1907.
Killed in action in Carnoy (Somme).

Julien Denis - Racing Club de Calais (14.08.81- 25.09.15) 
Half back, 2 caps in 1908. Calais' stadium is named in his honour.
Killed in action at Souchez.

Charles Dujardin - Union Sportive Tourquennoise (15.04.88 - 29.08.14) 
 1 cap v Switzerland 1913
 Died from injuries sustained in the battle of the Aisne.

Émile Dusart - Racing Club de Roubaix (03.09.92 -13.03.19)
Defender- 1 cap v Hungary in 1914.
A nurse, he died of influenza at Mainz.

René Fenouillère - Red Star Amical Club de Paris (22.10.82 - 04.11.16) 

The forward won 1 cap, in the 1908 Olympics at London.

The stadium of U.S. Avranches is named in his honour.

 Killed in action at Reims.

6 caps,3 goals.Captain at the 1908 Olympics (in a  17-1 loss against Denmark).

Died of injuries in Meuse.

Inside left, he won 1 cap, v Luxembourg in 1914. 

Died of  injuries at Souilly.

France v Switzerland 1930

The card shows the France team that lined up against Switzerland at Stade Olympique Yves-du-Manoir
(Colombes). 
The match ended in a 3-3 draw. Switzerland were 2-0 in 13 minutes (both goals by Lehmann).Chueva (17 min) and Anatol (34) leveled the score. In the 58th minute  Libérati put France ahead and Romberg  completed the scoring with a 68th minute equalizer.

Villaplane,  Libérati and  Maschinot were in the squad that represented France in the 1930 World Cup.

Alexandre Villaplane was Algeria born. He captained France in Uruguay. As his career waned he became more involved in criminal activities. In 1944 he was executed for  war crimes having collaborated with the Nazis.

Pierre Chayriguès

Well protected and with a definite air of none shall pass, Pierre Chayriguès of Clichy, Red Star Amical and France. 

 Tottenham Hotspur were keen to sign  Chayriguès after he played against them in 1913. However, he had to do military service and it was unlikely that the British Government would have granted a work-permit to a foreign footballer. 

He represented France 21 times (1911-25) , keeping 4 clean sheets in a record of won-8 drawn-  3 lost -10. 2 of these appearances came in the 1924 Olympic Games at Paris.

Luxembourg pre war internationals

Any discussion of the 'minnows' of international football will inevitably include Luxembourg. The Grand Duchy were relative early birds on the international scene, joining FIFA in 1910 and  playing their first game in 1911. Before the outbreak of war in 1914 they played 3 matches, all against France.
