A Grand Day Out
The Great Central Railway Company lay on a good service for this local derby in the First Round Proper of the 1901 FA Cup. First Division Notts Forest saw off their neighbours Leicester Fosse 5-1 at the City Ground, so there must have been plenty of long faces at Arkwright Street station waiting for the 6.4pm.
One thing though, if supporters took up this offer, arranged by Fosse's directors with the railway company as advertised, they would have been in Nottingham a fortnight early, as records show the game as being played on February 9th!
